Who We Are?

Andarge W/Griorgis Memorial School, whose silver jubilee, we celebrate with a special feeling of affection is a distinguished educational institution marking a prominent chapter with the history of academic excellence.  It was established in 1989 (1996) to educate students with a highly remarkable responsibility.  

 

The School is named after Keng. Andarge W/Giorgis, who has been a popular entrepreneur for almost four decades beginning from the imperial era up until 1988 E.C.  He established several network of enterprises in Ethiopia.  He was a celebrated business pioneer during 1950 – 1980 (i.e. 1958 – 1988) period of his time.

 

The first enrollment was in Sep- 1989 (1996) consisting of about 240 students.  The students were classified from KG up to grade 8.  The school was opened at the main villa building which was the former dwelling of KG/AN/W/G.  During its period of establishment, Ato Abera Tesfaye was the Chief Administrator; Ato Bekele Derge was the 1^st Academic Director. They laid a very good foundation.  The school, here by, recognizes them prominently.  

 

Specially, Ato Abera Tesfaye had made significant contributions such as assuring the business foundation, and accomplishing the land holding certificates.  Also, he had built the primary school and extended classes.  Actually, he had made an Iconic effort to make the school stand firmly.    

 

Ato Mesfin W/selassie, the 2^nd stage director served and promoted the school from primary to a full – fledged Secondary School. High school was opened in, 1993 (2000) and senior secondary class (preparatory program) started in 1999 (2007).

 

The school’s first ever 12^th grade batch graduated in 2000 (2008). All of them passed the national exam successfully.   .

 

During the 2^nd era of the school, Mrs. Woinshet Andarge who is one of the owners of Andarge W/G became executive managing director. She made lots of changes for example, construction and completion of the High School building and separation of high school from primary school.  These enabled and upgraded the school to the envisaged peak.  The learners’ classes doubled and the students’ population increased.  Exam preparation and quality controlling mechanisms have shown tremendous change over the years. Human resources have been handled in a better way. In line with school’s improvement, the number of students got increased, the number of toilet service, water service pipe lines have also expanded.  Educational facilities such as libraries, record office, pedagogical centers, science laboratories, ICT centers, student guidance and counselors service tremendously made better and rose as per the criteria of newly drawn standard.  Nowadays, the school is at the 3^rd level. Also the students’ dining rooms doubled according to the need assessments.  Playing ground for the students facilitated according to their age groups.  In sum total the school’s views changed at large. Ato Luelseged Zekarias, who has been working as executive director, has been showing visible performance to improve the school profile in collaboration with the executive managing director and with the other co-authorities.  

 

In this regard, Ato Silesh Asfaw, who has been working as administrator and finance head and human resource officer, has been and is found very devotee, takes care of the school’s properties persistently. 

 

As the school service restructured

• W/o Yalemwork Desalegn is assigned as Kindergarten head and director.
• Ato Getachew Alemayehu has become primary school director.
• Ato Demerw Assefa has been assigned as a High School Director.
• Ato Dada Girma has been assigned as Head of supervision division of the school, and lately Ato Simeneh Getahun has joined the institution as internal supervisor and quality control officer.

 

Conclusion: 

It’s quite certain that educational grounds are getting reinforced. Parents should work together strongly.  Obviously, what matters most as a parent is not wealth but the maintenance of the desired helpfulness and anticipation. If this is so the school would be pretty good and will be in a position to jump high and transform itself to the next academic hill.
